Seatrium wins contract for world's first full-scale CCS retrofit on Solvang's ethylene carrier, Clipper Eris, capturing 70% of CO2 emissions.

Seatrium has secured a contract from Norwegian shipowner Solvang ASA to undertake a full-scale, turnkey Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) retrofit project. The 7MW Wärtsilä CCS system will be installed on Solvang's ethylene carrier, Clipper Eris, and serves to capture around 70% of CO2 emissions from the vessel's main engine. The project marks the world's first full-scale CCS retrofit and includes the entire value chain for handling CO2, such as liquefaction and storage. If the project succeeds, Solvang plans to install the technology on more of its vessels.
