Saskatoon Tribal Council defends its Emergency Wellness Centre against increased crime claims by local pastor Robert Pearce.

The Saskatoon Tribal Council has defended its Emergency Wellness Centre in Fairhaven following criticism from local pastor Robert Pearce, who claimed that crime and violence in the area had increased since the centre opened in December 2022. Pastor Pearce, who plans to run for the Ward 3 council seat, called for the centre's closure in a letter to Premier Scott Moe. In response, the Tribal Council's Chief Mark Arcand accused Pearce of having a "colonial mentality" and denied that the centre had caused an increase in criminal activity.
