The New South Wales government and The Star casino have entered into a Jobs Guarantee Agreement to maintain over 3,000 jobs at The Star until 2030. Star Entertainment, the operator of Sydney's Star casino, is legally bound to this commitment and faces penalties if they fail to meet the agreed headcount. The casino operator will pay a higher tax rate of 20.25% starting July 1, 2023, with a tax increase from 17.91% to 20.25%. The agreement with the NSW government, which aims to protect workers' livelihoods, also includes an increase in the casino's tax contribution.
