Northern Ireland to provide one full IVF cycle from Oct 1 for eligible women, falling short of a plan for three cycles under 2020 deal.

Northern Ireland's Health Minister, Robin Swann, has announced an increase in publicly funded IVF treatment, allowing eligible women one full cycle instead of the previous provision of one fresh and one frozen embryo transfer. Eligible women must meet access criteria for IVF and have been placed on the waiting list after October 1, 2022. While this change marks an initial step towards the New Decade, New Approach commitment to provide up to three funded cycles of IVF treatment, implementation of the second and third cycles is currently delayed by funding and capacity issues.
