Delta Air Lines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit returns to Amsterdam.

A Delta Air Lines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit was forced to make a U-turn and return to Amsterdam after maggots started falling from an overhead compartment onto passengers. The infestation was traced back to rotting fish stored in a passenger's carry-on luggage, which had been stored in the overhead compartment. All passengers were asked to deboard the aircraft; the offending suitcase was placed in a bag for destruction, and the airplane was promptly deep-cleaned. Delta Airlines apologized for the disruption and accommodated affected passengers on the next available flight.
