South Carolina Democratic Representative announces stepping down from House Democratic leadership.

South Carolina Democratic Representative Jim Clyburn has announced he plans to step down from House Democratic leadership; however, he will continue to serve as a representative and will seek re-election in January 2024. Clyburn stated he sees threats to America's pursuit of "a more perfect Union" and that stepping away from leadership would allow him to better work toward preserving the nation's greatness. The announcement came shortly before the start of the new Congress, and Clyburn's post is set to be taken over by Rep. Joe Neguse of Colorado.
