Renesas Electronics acquires Altium for A$9.1bn ($5.9bn) to streamline electronics design process through Altium's chip circuit board design tools.

Japanese semiconductor firm Renesas Electronics has agreed to acquire Australian software company Altium, valued at A$9.1 billion ($5.9 billion), in an effort to streamline its electronics design process. Renesas will finance the acquisition through bank loans and cash on hand, with plans to leverage Altium's main business of making tools to design chip circuit boards in order to better manage electronics designing for its customers.
