Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett appoints new police chief.

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett has appointed Chris Bailey, a 25-year veteran of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), as the city's new police chief. Bailey, who has served as the department's acting chief since December, will succeed former IMPD Chief Randal Taylor. Bailey has played a crucial role in implementing reforms such as revised use of force and vehicle pursuit policies, body-worn cameras, and a civilian-majority Use of Force Review Board. As the new chief, Bailey will continue addressing the staff shortage in the department and work on finding a research partner to evaluate Indianapolis' increase in officer-involved shootings.
