Study at UCL finds teenagers in England express concerns about future parenthood.

A study by the University College London found that nearly half of teenagers are worried about having children due to lack of knowledge about their reproductive health. The studies, published in Human Fertility and Health Education Journal, collected survey results from 931 students in England aged 16 to 18. The results showed that while 64% of students wanted to have children in the future, 45% expressed concerns about future parenthood. The concerns included health and well-being, financial burdens, hindrance to personal aspirations, and non-inclusive LGBTQ+ education. Researchers suggested that updating the relationships and sex education curriculum could help tackle these parenthood fears.
