ACLU accuses court of violating immigrants’ due process in Nebraska, Iowa.

The ACLU of Nebraska has released a report accusing the U.S. Department of Justice immigration court in Omaha of violating due process rights in immigrants' removal proceedings. The report, based on over 500 pretrial hearings between April and August 2023, found that immigrants often did not receive a full and fair removal hearing, as required by federal law. The court oversees cases for people living in Nebraska and Iowa. The U.S. Department of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration Review, which oversees such immigration courts, has pushed back on the report's findings.
