SERAP sues Senate President Akpabio and House Speaker Abbas to disclose rationale for N6 billion car park allocation in the N344.85bn National Assembly budget at Abuja's Federal High Court.

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) is suing the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, for not providing details or a rationale for several budget items, notably the N6 billion allocation for two car parks, contained in the N344.85 billion National Assembly budget. SERAP filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja in an attempt to obtain a court order to compel the defendants to disclose, clarify, and explain details of the budget. This comes after the organization learned that the National Assembly increased its budget allocation in the 2024 budget to N344.85 billion, raising concerns over transparency and accountability in the process.
