PM Rishi Sunak claims £20bn from scrapped HS2 northern leg to fund Northern bus services and electric bus projects.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak recently visited a bus depot in Harrogate and stated that bus services are benefiting from the government's decision to scrap the northern leg of HS2. He said that "every penny from HS2 in the North, almost £20 billion, is going to stay in the North". Sunak emphasized that this decision allows for the reinvestment of funds into more projects, like electric buses, which he considers more important than HS2.
