The Madhya Pradesh High Court has criticized the "fashionable" practice of civic authorities demolishing houses without following proper procedure, often after arresting a family member. In a case involving the demolition of Rahul Langri's house in Ujjain, the court ruled that the demolition was illegal and awarded a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to Radha Langri and her mother-in-law Vimla Gurjar. The court also ordered action against civic officials for carrying out the demolition.
