UK drivers warned to check car tyres for safety, potential £10k fines and licence loss due to 25% of vehicle fault accidents involving dangerous or illegal tyres, per Dept of Transport report.

UK drivers are being warned that they could face a £10,000 fine and loss of their driving licence if their tyres are not safe and legal. According to Dan Jones, Operations Manager at TrackDays.co.uk, 25% of vehicle defect-related collisions involve unsafe tyres. Jones advises drivers to perform a 20p coin test to check tyre tread depth, inspect for cuts, bulges, and tears, and ensure correct tyre pressure.
