POWs honoured on 20th anniversary.

On the 20th anniversary of the Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial in Ballarat, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese addressed the importance of remembering the sacrifices, courage, and mateship of former prisoners of war. The memorial, which features over 35,000 names of soldiers, sailors, and nurses, serves as a testament to the prisoners' endurance and resilience during World Wars I and II, the Boer War, and Korean War. Prime Minister Albanese highlighted the creativity and resourcefulness of POWs, who crafted objects like pottery mugs, blankets, and a Melbourne Cup trophy during their captivity, as symbols of the unimaginable sacrifice and courage of prisoners of war.
