CBIC warns against fake GST summons using illegitimate DINs, advises taxpayers to verify communications and report suspicious cases.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a warning about fraudsters sending out fake Goods and Services Tax (GST) summons to taxpayers. These summons use Document Identification Numbers (DIN) that appear legitimate but are not issued by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI). The CBIC advises taxpayers to verify the authenticity of any GST communications using their website or the Directorate of Data Management's online portal. Suspicious summons should be reported to the concerned jurisdictional DGGI/CBIC office for verification.
