A college student in San Diego suffered minor head injuries when a stray bullet from a neighboring apartment struck her bedroom wall, causing her to bleed and lose consciousness; the suspect, a Marine, has been identified.

A 20-year-old college student in downtown San Diego was injured by a stray bullet that accidentally fired from an apartment next door, hitting her bedroom wall. Daria Tolokonnikova was studying on her bed when the bullet shot through the drywall, knocking her out of bed and causing her to collapse and bleed from the back of her head. The round only grazed her scalp, requiring stitches. The incident has left her hesitant to sleep in the room. The suspect, Samuel C. Hernandez, is a 22-year-old U.S. Marine Corporal based at MCAS Miramar.
