The University of Minnesota (UM) has approved a letter of intent to reacquire the University of Minnesota Medical Center, which was sold to Fairview Health Services in 1997. The goal is to have the UM running its own medical services and facilities by the end of 2027, while expanding the medical center with a new state-of-the-art academic health facility.
