Duke Energy plans to remove Chinese CATL batteries from Marine Corps bases.

Utility company Duke Energy, under pressure from Congress due to potential network vulnerabilities and ties to China's ruling Communist Party, plans to decommission energy storage batteries by CATL at Camp Lejeune, one of the largest Marine Corps bases in the US. The company is expected to replace the CATL battery energy storage system with a domestic or allied nation supplier, with complete CATL product removal by 2027. In addition, Duke Energy is considering alternative suppliers for around two dozen other projects in response to concerns about hackers linked to the Chinese government targeting critical infrastructure, including the power grid.
