Britain needs a superwatchdog to monitor regulators, lawmakers say, as part of the country's post-Brexit reset to better hold increasingly politicised watchdogs to account without impinging on their ability to act independently. Some regulators have too many duties and objectives, with unclear priorities and limited resources, according to the House of Lords' Industry and Regulators Committee report. The report urges government and lawmakers to make clear to regulators how objectives should be prioritised.
