The U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched an investigation into Aviva's acquisition of AIG Life to determine if the deal would lessen competition within its markets. The CMA has invited comments from interested parties and set a deadline of April 8 for the initial decision. The acquisition, announced in September 2023, was expected to expand Aviva's client base by adding 1.3 million individual protection customers and 1.4 million group protection members.
