Bolton Council approved a legal hypnotism show after a 42-year ban, per Hypnotism Act 1952 requirements.

Overturning a 42-year-old ban, Bolton Council has granted permission for the first legal hypnotism show in the town since 1982. Robert Temple, a comedian and hypnotist, applied for a licence for his show, which falls under the Hypnotism Act 1952, which requires councils to approve any show involving hypnotism. The Act was established under the belief that public exhibition of these acts could manipulate people's minds.
