WWII veteran Jack Hemmings, aged 102, flew a Spitfire for the first time to raise funds for his 80-year-old charity, Mission Aviation Fellowship.

At 102 years old, veteran WWII pilot Jack Hemmings took to the skies in a Spitfire for the first time. The flight, from an airfield in southern England on Monday, was to raise money for a charity he co-founded nearly 80 years ago, Mission Aviation Fellowship. Hemmings, who had never flown a Spitfire before, said the experience was "absolutely delightful" but admitted it was "very bumpy." The charity, which Hemmings founded with fellow WWII veteran Stuart King, uses planes to deliver relief, medicine, and emergency cargo to countries in need.
