LA Superior Court judge dismisses Byron Allen's $100M lawsuit against McDonald's over failing to fulfill ad-spending pledge to Black-owned media.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has dismissed Byron Allen's $100 million lawsuit against McDonald's. Filed in May 2023, the suit claimed that McDonald's had failed to honor a pledge to increase ad-spending with Black-owned media. In 2021, McDonald's promised to double its spending on American media companies owned by various minority groups by the end of 2024, specifically increasing spending at Black-owned companies from 2% to 5%. The judge cited California's anti-SLAPP laws and called the lawsuit "purely speculative".
