FAA to increase inspections of Boeing due to concerns over manufacturing processes following a mid-flight panel blowout on a Boeing 737 Max 9.

FAA Chief Mike Whitaker has announced that the Federal Aviation Administration will be increasing inspections of aircraft manufacturer Boeing due to recent concerns over the company's manufacturing processes and the agency's oversight. Whitaker's appearance before a House panel follows a mid-flight panel blowout on a Boeing 737 Max 9, raising questions about Boeing's quality control and manufacturing practices. The FAA has ordered thorough inspections and maintenance of the Max 9 jets, and is deploying 20 safety inspectors to Boeing's Renton, Washington plant where 737 MAX planes are manufactured, as well as six more at Spirit AeroSystems' facility in Wichita, Kansas.
