Edmonton Police Service warns of Facebook Marketplace scams selling fake Apple, Samsung products with 40 incidents in 3 months.
The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has issued a warning regarding online electronic scams that involve the sale of fake Apple and Samsung products on Facebook Marketplace, with around 40 incidents reported in the past three months. Many of these scams involve the purchase of seemingly new products such as cellphones and watches, which are later proven to be fake. The EPS has provided tips to avoid becoming a victim, such as not meeting in secluded places, verifying the seller's identity and ensuring transactions take place in well-lit public areas with surveillance cameras.
