Colombia has extended its cease-fire with the National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrilla group by six months, with the rebels promising to stop kidnapping civilians for ransom. The truce, originally set to expire on Tuesday, was extended just minutes before midnight in a statement from both sides. The ELN will "temporarily and unilaterally suspend economic detentions" to contribute to the ceasefire.
