Amazon plans to eliminate a few hundred jobs across its health care units, including One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy, as part of the company's ongoing efforts to trim its employee strength in 2024. The company is looking to cut One Medical's operating expenses by an additional $100 million this year and reduce the cost per patient visit to $322 in 2024. These layoffs are part of Amazon's continued cost-cutting strategy, which saw the elimination of over 27,000 jobs in 2023, and its acquisition of One Medical in July 2022 for approximately $3.9 billion.
