Actor Robert Downey Jr. revealed he interviewed for Batman Begins' Scarecrow role, which Cillian Murphy took, and later starred with Nolan in acclaimed film Oppenheimer.

Robert Downey Jr. recently revealed during a panel for American Cinematheque that he was once in talks for the role of Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow in Batman Begins, but the meeting with director Christopher Nolan reportedly went awkwardly, with Nolan appearing disinterested. The role eventually went to Cillian Murphy. Downey Jr. went on to work with Nolan and Murphy in "Oppenheimer," where he played Rear Admiral Lewis Strauss and received numerous awards nominations.
