Himachal Pradesh government signs MoU with NDDB for an automated milk processing plant in Kangra, with initial capacity of 1.50 LLPD, set to produce various dairy products and purchase milk from local farmers.

The Himachal Pradesh government has signed an MoU with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for establishing an automated milk processing plant in Dhagwar, Kangra. The plant, with an initial capacity of 1.50 lakh litres per day (LLPD) and expandable to 3 LLPD, will be built with an investment of Rs 225 crore in the first phase. The project aims to produce various dairy products, including curd, lassi, butter, ghee, paneer, flavoured milk, khoya, and mozzarella cheese, and directly purchase milk from farmers in Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Una districts. An additional Rs 43 crore will be used to strengthen the milk procurement network. The plant's second phase will include production of milk powder, ice cream, and various types of cheese.
