The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department recorded 7,350 fire incidents in 2023, an increase from 6,294 cases in 2022. Of those incidents, 21 lives were lost last year, reflecting an increase after a declining trend of fatalities from 2019 to 2021. As of 2023, only 980 out of 1,844 designated structures in Selangor have a fire certificate, with the remaining 864 lacking the required certification.
