Karnataka Chief Minister forms inquiry committee to investigate delays in Nagarothana project bills and alleged irregularities in KEONICS under BJP govt.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate delays in passing bills of work under the Nagarothana project. This follows allegations made by contractors of 10 districts regarding these delays. The committee, led by retired IAS officer S.D. Meena, will examine the work carried out by Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (KEONICS) from 2018-19 to 2022-23. The panel includes financial and technical experts to assist in the audit. The move comes after the Principal Accountant General's audit team submitted 45 audit enquiries on KEONICS' transactions and procurements, revealing various issues. The inquiry committee will also probe alleged irregularities in KEONICS during the previous BJP government in the state, including procurement of IT peripherals at escalated costs ranging from 38% to 1577%.
