Cotton arrival in Pakistan increased by 1.1% in the last two weeks of January, totaling 8.35 million bales compared to 8.258 million bales on January 15, according to the Pakistan Cotton Ginner's Association (PCGA). The year-on-year increase was over 75%, up from 4.764 million bales on January 31, 2022. The rise in cotton arrivals, an essential raw material for the textile industry, resulted from improvements after flash floods in 2022 devastated agricultural land. The textile sector purchased 76.84 million bales, exporters bought 2.92 million bales, and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) did not purchase during the cotton season 2023-24.
