Chinese prosecutors indicted 16,000 individuals on duty-related crimes charges January through November 2023, according to a senior prosecutor. The charges included 24 former officials registered with and supervised by the Communist Party of China Central Committee. In 2023, efforts were focused on strict investigation and punishment for those accused of taking bribes and those offering bribes. Efforts have also been made to deepen anti-corruption work in key sectors like medical, financial, and food and grain.
