A $150,000 warning curtain is installed on Independence Avenue Bridge in Kansas City to alert drivers of its 12-foot height, reducing potential accidents involving large trucks.

A warning curtain has been installed in front of the notorious Independence Avenue Bridge in Kansas City to alert drivers of the bridge's height and required clearance. The project cost a combined $150,000 from the city of Kansas City and the Kansas City Terminal Railroad. Over the years, the bridge has caused numerous accidents involving large trucks due to its 12-foot height in contrast to the standard tractor-trailer height of 13.5 feet. Mayor Quinton Lucas shared his excitement for the safety improvements and hopes that the warning curtain will prevent accidents and reduce the stress on the bridge.
