Arizona Rep. Amish Shah resigns state House seat to run for Congress in District 1, and Jevin Hodge is appointed to fill vacant seat in Arizona's Legislative District 8.

Arizona state Representative Amish Shah has resigned from his position in the state House to focus on his run for Congress in District 1. Shah's resignation leaves the state House of Representatives temporarily down four members. Shah's candidacy includes a focus on education, health care, and voting rights. In a separate development, Jevin Hodge, who nearly defeated U.S. Rep. David Schweikert in 2022, has been appointed by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to fill the vacant seat in Arizona's Legislative District 8.
