A Mortgage Interest Tax Relief scheme for homeowners is now open for submissions, allowing those who paid increased mortgage rates last year to claim up to €1,250 in tax relief. Eligible homeowners, estimated at around 208,000, can apply through the Revenue's myAccount service after filing a 2023 tax return. The scheme is expected to cost €125 million on a one-time basis.
