Karnataka government signs MOU with Taiwan's Wistron for a ₹1,500 cr laptop manufacturing plant, set to create 3,000 jobs & commence work in July.

Karnataka has signed an MoU with Taiwan-based Wistron Corporation, a leading technology service provider, for the establishment of a laptop manufacturing plant in the state. The company will invest Rs 1,500 crore and provide 3,000 jobs. Wistron plans to commence work in July 2024 and begin manufacturing laptops by January 2026. The company has requested 32 acres of land, which the state government is considering providing in the surroundings of Bengaluru. The plant will be the first of its kind in Karnataka, with a fully automated facility producing laptops for all brands.
