Renault halts Ampere EV unit IPO due to unfavorable market conditions, citing better-than-expected cash generation.

French automaker Renault announced on January 29 that it would halt the initial public offering (IPO) of its electric vehicle (EV) unit, Ampere. The company cited unfavorable market conditions for the decision. Renault originally planned to split off Ampere in 2022 in hopes of increasing agility and innovation in the rapidly developing EV sector. Despite current market conditions, Renault reaffirmed its commitment to building Ampere as a separate business and will continue to fund it.
