Queensland's Gulf Country highway partially closed due to Routh Creek Bridge collapse reopens after a week following critical earthwork repairs.

A major highway in Queensland's Gulf Country has reopened to traffic after a week of partial closure due to a collapsed bridge. The Routh Creek Bridge between Georgetown and Mount Suprise partially collapsed on January 20 as a result of flooding causing a failure in one of its foundations. An official statement from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) on January 30 confirmed the reopening of the bridge following critical earthwork repairs, thanking the Etheridge Shire Council for their support in reopening the bridge in record time.
