Nigerian Police Force mandates uniform wear for stop-and-search operations, launching an investigation after a video shows unidentified officers without uniforms on Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Nigerian Force Public Relations Officer Muyiiwa Adejobi has stated that police officers conducting stop and search operations must be in uniform and display their names. This comes after a video went viral of four unidentified individuals in civilian clothing stopping a driver on Lekki-Epe Expressway and requesting a tinted permit. Adejobi explained that the Nigeria Police Force mandates officers to wear uniforms during routine patrols and stop-and-search operations, and an investigation has been initiated into the individuals in the video. Officers in mufti should be involved in surveillance or undercover work without long-range weapons.
