NHAI sets Jan 31 deadline for updating FASTag KYC, post which banks will deactivate unverified tags.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has set a deadline of January 31 for updating the Know Your Customer (KYC) details of FASTags. After this date, banks will deactivate or blacklist all FASTags with incomplete KYC updates. FASTags are used on highways to simplify the process of paying toll taxes at toll plazas by connecting to a bank account or prepaid card. The tags use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to automatically deduct the toll when a vehicle with a FASTag approaches a toll booth.
