Japan ends floppy disk requirement for official documents submission by year-end, per METI's decision.
Japan will no longer require floppy disks for submitting some official documents by the end of this year, as the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has decided to phase out the use of outdated physical media, according to The Register.
This move follows the urge by Minister of Digital Affairs Taro Kono in 2022 to encourage other branches of the government to adopt more modern methods for data submission.
