HSE apologizes for inadequate care that led to a young psychiatric patient's suicide at Hospital.

The HSE has issued an apology to the family of a young psychiatric patient who took her own life at Tallaght University Hospital four years ago. Danielle Creighton died by suicide while under the care of doctors at the HSE-run Aspen psychiatric unit on October 21, 2020. An inquest into her death heard concerns voiced by her family about the care she received. In a statement, Mary O'Kelly, the HSE's head of service for Dublin South, Kildare, and West Wicklow Community Healthcare, expressed regret and sadness at the young woman's death and apologized for the standard of care provided, acknowledging it was not the standard considered appropriate.
