Beijing plans to increase its green space coverage in 2024, aiming for 91% of residents to have access to parks and small green areas within a 500-meter radius. The city intends to complete the afforestation of 666.67 hectares, while adding an additional 200 hectares of urban green spaces. Beijing aims to become a garden city nestled in forests by adding 15 leisure parks and urban forests, as well as 50 pocket parks and small green areas. Currently, the city has 1,065 parks and a per capita green space coverage of 16.9 square meters.
