The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) announced on Monday the installation of an Early Earthquake Detection System using 28 seismometers for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad 'bullet train' corridor.
This system, based on Japanese Shinkansen technology, will ensure passengers' and critical infrastructure's safety during earthquakes by detecting tremors and triggering automatic power shutdowns and emergency brakes on affected trains.
