The EU extends economic sanctions against Russia for another six months in a 10-year deterrence move.
The European Union (EU) has extended economic sanctions against Russia for another six months due to its aggression against Ukraine. The decision extends all sanctions imposed since July 2014, stating that it is necessary to maintain them as long as Russia uses force and violates international law. The final 12th package of sanctions concerns Russian diamonds. The next round of sanctions is expected to affect Russian aluminium.
