The Washington Nationals have signed Joey Gallo to a $5 million, one-year contract. Gallo, a 30-year-old outfielder and first baseman, comes from the Minnesota Twins, where he hit .177 with 21 homers and 40 RBIs in the previous season. The contract also includes an $8 million mutual option for 2025 with a $2.5 million buyout. With a career average of .197, Gallo brings power hitting and left-handed batting to the Nationals' lineup. The Nationals designated catcher Israel Pineda for assignment to make room for Gallo on their roster.
