Donna Masse, a trailblazing military veteran, passed away on January 10 at the age of 85. In 2001, she made history as the first woman to carry the ceremonial mace out of the legislature. After retiring from the military, where she had become the commanding officer of the 700-member Communications Squadron at CFB Borden, Masse worked for the provincial government, later joining the legislature's staff until the age of 78. Masse leaves behind her daughter, Anna Peakman, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
