The Stanislaus County in California reported its first flu-related death of the season. The deceased individual, an adult male under 65 years old, was not identified to protect patient privacy. Public Health Officer Dr. Thea Papasozomenos mentioned that flu illness symptoms can range from mild to severe and emphasized that flu vaccination is the most effective protection against flu complications. It is not too late to receive a flu shot.
